In 1977, our son, David, was a bright, happy, and well-adjusted young man. He was a good student, a talented musician, and a loving son and brother. But then, one day, he came home from college and announced that he had joined the Unification Church, also known as the Moonies.

We were shocked and devastated. We had never heard of the Moonies before, and we didn't know what to think. We tried to talk David out of it, but he wouldn't listen. He said that the Moonies were the only true church, and that they had the answers to all of life's problems.

As the days and weeks went by, we watched in horror as David changed before our very eyes. He became withdrawn and secretive. He stopped going to school and quit his job. He spent all his time at the Moonies' center, and he began to talk like a robot.

We knew that we had to do something to save David, but we didn't know what. We tried to get him to see a therapist, but he refused. We tried to talk to him about the Moonies, but he wouldn't listen. We were desperate.

Finally, we decided to take matters into our own hands. We hired a deprogrammer, and we had David kidnapped and taken to a safe house. The deprogrammer worked with David for several weeks, and eventually, he was able to break David's brainwashing.

David came home to us a changed man. He was no longer the same bright, happy, and well-adjusted young man he had been before he joined the Moonies. But he was alive, and he was free.

This book is the story of our experience with the Moonies. We tell the story of how David got involved with the church, how we tried to get him out, and how we finally succeeded. We also provide a detailed account of the church's history, beliefs, and practices, as well as the tactics they use to recruit new members. We hope that this book will help other families who are dealing with a loved one who is involved with the Moonies.

The Unification Church

The Unification Church was founded in South Korea in 1954 by Sun Myung Moon. Moon claimed to be the Messiah, and he taught that the only way to achieve world peace was through the unification of all religions under his leadership.

The Moonies believe that Moon is the "True Parent" of all mankind, and that he has come to earth to establish a new kingdom of heaven on earth. They believe that the world is in a state of spiritual decay, and that only Moon can save it.

The Moonies use a variety of tactics to recruit new members, including:

  • Love bombing: This is a technique where Moonies shower potential recruits with love and attention, making them feel like they are part of a special group.
  • Thought reform: This is a technique where Moonies use a variety of psychological techniques to break down potential recruits' critical thinking skills and make them more susceptible to Moon's teachings.
  • Isolation: Moonies often isolate potential recruits from their friends and family, making them more dependent on the church for support.

The Moonies are a dangerous cult, and they have been responsible for the destruction of many lives. If you or someone you know is involved with the Moonies, please seek help immediately.
